Bloodhound Gang Cancel Boise Show
Local authorities catch wind of live show antics
December 6, 2000 Bloodhound Gang announced that they have canceled a December 11 concert in Boise, Idaho at the Doubletree Riverside Ballroom. The move comes in response to
promoter Bravo Entertainment, LLP issuing an addendum to the
performance contract, insisting that the band eliminate portions of
their live show that are in violation of local laws. The venue voiced concerns
regarding the band's conduct, after hearing from other Police Chiefs
in various cities where the band has recently performed. The band
decided to cancel this date rather than conform to the community's
standards.
Currently on tour in support of their platinum-selling album, Hooray
for Boobies (Geffen), the Bloodhound Gang have elicited numerous
complaints along their tour route. The complaints were outlined as
follows in the six-page facsimile from Bravo Entertainment, LLP to
Bloodhound Gang Inc, and include:
- 11/12- Iowa City, IA - Band paid a patron to eat 20 Big Macs and
drink Half & Half and puke
- 11/13- Fargo, ND - Band encouraged a patron to expose his genitals,
and was arrested for indecent exposure
- 11/14- Sioux Falls, SD - Band encouraged and/or paid patrons to
urinate on the stage (and) paid patron to puke on stage after eating
Big Macs
- 11/15- Madison, WI - Band encouraged or paid a person to get
naked on the balcony
- 11/16- Columbus, OH - Band paid a patron to crap in his pants on
stage
- 11/25- Lancaster, PA - Band paid a patron to piss in his pants on
stage
Bravo Ent. urged the band to refrain from these antics, stressing
that a Bloodhound Gang set would be in violation of
Idaho State Law, which prohibits exposing, or inciting the
exposure of "bare skin of any breasts, genitals or buttocks
areas." Furthermore, the extrication of bodily fluids is not
allowed in a public place. "Thus, any encouragement by the
band or members thereof to get patrons to urinate, defecate,
...or even throw up... on stage or in the audience" violates the
law. Another stipulation of the addendum would have
suspended the blazing finale to the song "Magna Cum Nada,"
necessitated by the venue's fire alarm system. "The use of
any fire, or the setting of any equipment on fire, blowing fire, or
any other pyrotechnics for this show" would have also been
prohibited.
Ticket refunds are available at the point of purchase.
